Where guesthouses rate best — and why the gap is smaller than you think
Average scores island by island, counting only houses with fifteen reviews or more. The whole field fits inside 1.04 of a star.

A four-and-a-half star average means one thing on an island with forty rated guesthouses and something else entirely on an island with four. Below, only guesthouses with at least fifteen reviews are counted, and only islands where at least four such houses exist.

The spread between top and bottom is 1.04 of a star — narrower than most people expect. Guesthouse ratings across the Maldives sit in a tight band, which is exactly why the number of reviews behind a score matters more than the score.
What this is not
It is not a quality ranking of islands. Ratings measure what guests chose to write down, and guests who paid more tend to write more generously. Islands with few rated houses are missing from the table rather than placed at the bottom of it — absence here means too little data, not a bad island.
