Which local islands the public ferry actually reaches
7 of the islands here sit on the national ferry network; the rest, including the busiest ones, do not. Which is which, and why.

The public ferry costs a few rufiyaa where a speedboat costs tens of dollars. Whether an island is on the network is therefore one of the first things worth knowing, and it is not something the booking sites tell you.

That is not an oversight in our data. The national RTL network publishes its routes openly, and its 149 stops do not include Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal or Vaavu — the atolls closest to the airport, and the ones most visitors go to. Those islands are served by the older MTCC routes, whose timetable is not published in a form anyone can cite.
What we cannot give you
Departure times. The operator's trip data sits behind a login, so we publish the route and the stops and stop there. A wrong departure time costs you a travel day; a missing one costs you a question at reception.
