What to ask before you book

  • Airport transfer

Ask whether the guesthouse arranges it and what it costs. Arriving without one, at an hour no public ferry runs, is the expensive way to find out.

  • Distance to the beach

On a local island the bikini beach is a fixed spot, not outside every door. Five minutes and twenty minutes are a different holiday.

  • Meals and Ramadan

Whether breakfast is included, and — if you travel during Ramadan — whether the kitchen serves guests during the day.
